(l-r) Sam kisses the trophy as Madam Jasmine Tan looks on |
During the Semi Final matches, both Thailand's players were the hot favourites to go into the Final as people came as early as 12pm to catch a glimpse of world class snooker action. As the matches started, Sam saw himself down 0-3 to a very much in form Yuttapop Pakpoj. Sam immediately sprang back to reply with breaks of 83, 54 and 50 to level back the match at 3-3, showing his playing form during his glory days. Frame 7 was a seesaw frame which Sam won on the colours and made another 83 points to win Frame 8 and match to advance into the Final.
As the Final was started in front of an full packed arena, there was no looking back for Sam as he went on to win straight 4 frames in a row before the 15 minutes interval. Imtiaz seemed lost during the break and tried very hard to fight back as the game resumed. But that was not to happen as Sam totally denied Imtiaz's access and made a 55 break to finally win the match.
