Au Sir narrowly escapes defeat

Au Chi Wai aims for safety
Hong Kong's Au Chi Wai only merely managed to escape from defeat as he won Thean Mun Kit 4-3 in the Last 32 Round of Mike Yow Memorial Cup 2012.

Having played well in the Group Stage, Au immediately saw himself trailing a very much in form Thean 0-3. After a short toilet break, Au shook off all jitters and with breaks of 68 and 67 took the remaining frames and won the match to advance to the Last 16 round.

He plays Chooi Yew Wah in the Last 16 round, whom beat Don Kamaruddin 4-0 in his Last 32 match and also the current highest break holder of 130 points.

Chan Ka Kin also made it through to the Last 16 after defeating India's Shahbaaz Khan 4-3 whilst both Chau Hon Man and Bobby Lee bowed out, losing to Imtiaz Serwer and Patrick Ooi respectively, leaving Au and Chan to fly Hong Kong's flag.
