Noppon wins Top Two Selangor Open

Noppon lifts the Champions
trophy
After 8 days of grueling snooker action, it's Noppon Saengkham from Thailand whom finally claims the inaugural Top Two Selangor Open Snooker Championship 2011 after beating Chan Ka Kin from Hong Kong in the Final by 6-1.

Chan appeared to be in better form as he whitewashed Elvin Lean 5-0 in his Semi Final match whilst Noppon took a longer time to beat his fellow countryman Dechawat by 5-1 to advance into the Final.

As the Final cued off at 8pm sharp, both players showed signs of nervousness as safety plays were exchanged. It was Noppon who drew first blood as he made a break of 41 to claim Frame 1. Chan however had other plans as he also made a 44 break to level the match at 1-1. Frame 3 and 4 were scrappy as both players struggled to regain the form from the afternoon session but Noppon merely squeezed through and took both frames to lead 3-1. Breaks of 58 and 52 saw Noppon extend the lead to 5-1, leaving Chan clueless in his chair. Noppon continued his aggressive strategy and that totally shattered Chan as he conceded frame and match with one red ball left on the table.

Noppon Saengkham collects the Champion's cash prize of RM 10,000 and the trophy while Chan Ka Kin wins RM 5,000 and trophy as the Runner up. Highest Break for the Championship goes to Noppon with his effort of 137 points in his Last 16 match against Ooi Chin Kay. He wins cash prize RM 500 and a set of Legacy cue worth more than RM 1,000 and cue case courtesy of Wiraka's sponsorship.
