Rory wins for the 7th time

(l-r) Imtiaz Serwer, New Five representative CF Chan and Rory Thor
Rory Thor claims his 7th victory on the Tour as he beats Imtiaz Serwer in Leg 12 XZ Snooker Tour at New Five Snooker, Kepong.

In the Semi Final matches, Rory survived a scare from Lai Chee Wei when the match was leveled at 2-2 but was soon outplayed as he closed to win it 4-2 to advance into the Final. In the other half, first timer William Teo was very excited as he makes his first Semi Final appearance against Imtiaz Serwer and led 1-0 after the match started. The excitement and anticipation however was short lived, as Imtiaz went on to win straight 4 frames to go through.

The Final was a very one sided match, as Rory literally hammered Imtiaz to go into a 3-0 lead. Imtiaz took 1 frame to narrow the gap but that was the end as Rory cleared up the colours in Frame 5 to win frame and match.

Rory takes home RM 3,000 cash prize whilst Imtiaz only manages RM 1,200. Highest Break went to Imtiaz with 88 points, winning only the trophy without the cash prize RM 500 as the minimum 100 points were not met.

Patrick's 2nd Tour victory

(l-r) Patrick Ooi, Club 28 Manager Boon and Rory Thor
Patrick Ooi claims his 2nd victory on the Tour as he easily defeats current leader Rory Thor 4-1 to win at Club 28, Puchong Perdana.

Both semi finals matches were a one sided affair as Rory and Patrick beat Imtiaz Serwer and Elvin Lean 4-0 and 4-1 respectively.

The Final started a bit late due to the delay in the match between Patrick and Elvin but affected little on both finalists. Rory Thor took the 1st frame swiftly with a break of 53 points but was quickly leveled back at 1-1 as Patrick slowed the pace down.

Frame 3 broke off but Rory was seemingly lost in his match play form, much to the disappointment of the crowd who came to cheer him. Patrick saw the opportunity and immediately swept in to lead 2-1. Rory took the lead in Frame 4 but a careless mistake on the Blue gave Patrick yet another chance as he cleared up colours to lead 3-1. Frame 4 also saw Rory leading in points but a miss on the final Black before the colours gave Patrick the chance he needed, clearing all colours to win frame and match.

Patrick takes home RM 3,000 for his Champion's triumph while Rory manages only RM 1,200.

Leg 12 moves to the other side of Klang Valley as New 5 Snooker, Kepong plays host from 23 - 29 Sept.

Texas retains title at Amazon

(l-r) Texas Yap and his daughter with SS Chua
Texas Yap successfully retains his title as he beats Timofey Mytrofanov in a hill-hill match to win the Amazon 9 Ball In House Pool Tournament.

Texas was the favourite for the title as he cruised through the Knockout Stages to reach the Final. Timofey, on the other hand, had to struggle through a few matches where he was trailing and managed to fight all the way into the Final.

The Final was a very close encounter as both players literally was breathing down each other's neck, each winning one rack at a time with the scores very tight and close. After close to one hour of matchplay, it was all down to the final rack with the scores tied at 8-8. Timofey had the first chance to kill and cleared all the way until the last 2 balls which he snookered himself, unable to pot Ball 7.

He tried to play a safety but was unsuccessful, letting Texas back on the table with a difficult Ball 7 to the end corner pocket. He took a deep breathe, went down and potted the ball confidently to setup nicely for the 9 Ball. The rest was history as the crowds roared and applauded for the exciting finale.

Texas Yap takes home RM 1,500 cash prize for a week long effort while Timofey manages only the Runner up's prize of RM 750. 2nd Runner up placing went to Alvin Wijaya whom won RM 450 followed by Amazon's player Sky Ngan winning the 3rd Runner up and cash prize of RM 300.

Third times the charm for Ko

(l-r) Ko Pin Yi, Golden Break Group Chairman Mr Shin and Ko Ping Chung
Chinese Taipei's Ko Ping Chung finally makes it on his third attempt as he beats his elder brother Ko Pin Yi to  lift the Champion's trophy at the 4th Golden Break 9 Ball Asia Invitational Championship 2012 here at Golden Break Subang USJ.

Majority predicted Pin Yi to be the winner as he played a better game today compared to his younger brother. This was however immediately proven wrong when the match started, as Ping Chung sped off straight to a 7-2 lead, leaving Pin Yi clueless as he trails behind.

Pin Yi tried to close the gap but was still far behind, the closest at 9-11 trailing. That was the last rack Pin Yi could win as Ping Chung took remaining the 2 rack, winning the match and Championship by 13-9.

Ping Chung takes home the Champion's trophy and cash prize USD8,000 whilst his brother Pin Yi takes USD 4,000 cash prize for his Runner up effort.

All Chinese Taipei Final

Chinese Taipei pool contingent which includes (l-r) Ko Ping Chung,
Ko Pin Yi and Chang Jung Lin
It will be an all Chinese Taipei final "family" affair as the Ko brothers, Ko Pin Yi and Ko Ping Chung goes through to the Final, after defeating Philippines Roberto Gomez and Carlo Biado respectively at the 4th Golden Break 9 Ball Asia Invitational Championship 2012.

This will be Ping Chung's 3rd Final appearance, the past 2 which he lost to Malaysia's Ibrahim Amir in 2010 followed by 2011 to Philippines Lee Vann Corteza.

On the other hand, his elder brother Pin Yi will be playing his first Final of the Championship. He lost in the Semi Final last year to Ping Chung and has gotten one step better this year around.

So, after close to 2 months of qualifiers and main event matches, it's now down to the last 2 players competing for the top prize of USD 8,000.
